Event Photography at the Palace of Westminster

The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is a historic building in London, England. It is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the UK Parliament.

I have photographed many high-profile events at the House of Lords. Check out the photos below from my first time photographing a high-profile event at the Palace of Westminster.

The event coincided with President Donald Trump visiting the UK for four days. The visit met with protests in London and other cities across the UK. Some protestors opposed President Trump’s policies on immigration and climate change.

The visit was also controversial due to President Trump’s comments on Brexit, NATO, and immigration.

As I exited Westminster tube station, I had to fight through the crowds to get to the Palace of Westminster. As a British documentary photographer, I was interested in what was happening outside the UK Parliament building as I was inside. It was a very eventful day!

I took both candid and posed photos of people and activities at the Palace of Westminster. Next, guests and dignitaries made their way to the House of Lords for an evening reception and speeches.

Check out some of my favourite photos of people and activities during event photography at the Palace of Westminster and the House of Lords.

Testimonial

Thank you to the late Lord Witley for the glowing testimonial below. I received this praise after photographing a high-profile event he previously hosted at the House of Lords. He was a top fellow!

Dear Paul,

As the Patron of the Complementary Therapies Unit at the Christie Hospital NHS Trust Manchester, I am writing to express my sincere thanks and gratitude, for all your kindness and superb expertise, on the two occasions you have been kind enough to be the official photographer for our events in the Cholmondeley rooms at the House of Lords.

I know I can say on behalf of all the dignitaries and guests who attended the House of Lord’s receptions, that your photographic coverage of the event was without exception truly excellent and professional.

I would have no hesitation in asking you to cover future events on my behalf, and as you know you have already been kind enough to agree to be the official photographer the next year, for a very high-profile reception I am presently arranging.

Once again Paul very many thanks to you and your staff.

With best wishes,

Aaron Kenneth Ward-Atherton (Lord of Witley & Hurcott)
